Terms of use

  • Terms

These are the terms for using Outis: the wallet and this website. By using Outis you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use it.

What Outis is

Outis is software: a self-custodial wallet for Starknet. It keeps your keys on your own device and uses them to read from Starknet and to sign what you approve.

We are not a bank, a broker, an exchange or a custodian. We never hold your tokens, and we can’t move them. Nothing happens to them that you didn’t sign.

Your keys are yours to keep

  • Your wallet is opened by your passkey and by your recovery phrase. We have neither, and we can’t reset or recover them.
  • If you lose both, your tokens are gone for good.
  • Anyone who has your recovery phrase can take everything. Keep it offline, and never give it to anyone, including someone claiming to be us.

A test release

Outis is in testing. The current release works on Sepolia, Starknet’s test network, whose tokens have no value. Features may change, break or be withdrawn, and test accounts may be reset. Don’t rely on it yet for anything that matters.

Using it lawfully

You may use Outis only if you are 18 or older, and only where it is legal for you to do so. You agree not to:

  • use Outis to launder money, to finance terrorism, to evade sanctions, or to break any other law that applies to you;
  • use Outis if you are subject to sanctions, or on behalf of someone who is;
  • attack, overload or interfere with Outis or the services it relies on, or try to get at another person’s wallet.

Outis is private by default and compliant by design. A private balance is not a way around the law.

Transactions are final

Once you confirm a transaction and Starknet accepts it, nobody can cancel or reverse it, us included. The wallet shows what you are about to sign. Check the address, the token and the amount before you confirm.

Fees

Starknet charges a network fee for every transaction. The privacy pool charges a fee of its own for a private action, and a service that sends a private action for you may charge for doing so. The wallet shows what you will pay before you confirm.

Outis is free to install. If we add a fee of our own, the wallet will show it before you pay it.

What we don’t run

Outis connects you to things that belong to others: Starknet, the privacy pool, the tokens you hold, exchanges such as Ekubo, and every site you connect your wallet to. We don’t control them, and we are not responsible for what they do or for what you lose through them. They have terms and risks of their own.

A site you connect can ask your wallet to sign. Read what the wallet shows before you approve.

What private means

A private payment keeps the amount, the token and who sent it off the public record. It does not hide you from the person you pay, and using the privacy pool is itself visible on-chain. The pool has compliance rules of its own, such as screening deposits. Privacy in Outis has limits, and theprivacy policy says where they are.

Risks you take on

  • Tokens can lose some or all of their value.
  • Software has bugs. That includes Outis, the contracts it uses, and Starknet itself.
  • Networks and services stop, slow down or change, ours included.
  • Laws about crypto assets differ from place to place, and they change. Following the ones that apply to you, taxes included, is up to you.

Nothing in Outis is financial, legal or tax advice. Prices shown in the wallet are estimates.

Our software and name

You may install and use Outis for yourself, under these terms. The software, the Outis name and the logo stay ours or their owners’. Don’t pass off something else as Outis.

No warranty

Outis is provided as it is and as available, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, as far as the law allows. We don’t promise that it will be free of errors, always available, or fit for a particular purpose.

Limit of liability

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for lost tokens, lost profits, lost data, or any indirect or consequential loss that comes from using Outis or from being unable to use it. That includes losses from a lost passkey or recovery phrase, a mistaken or unauthorized transaction, a bug, an outage, or something a third party did.

Where we are liable, our total liability to you is limited to 100 US dollars. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited.

Changes, and stopping

We may change Outis and these terms. When the terms change, the date at the top changes with them, and using Outis after that means you agree to the new ones.

We may stop offering Outis, or any part of it, at any time. Outis is self-custodial, so stopping takes nothing from you: your tokens stay on Starknet, under your keys.
